MOT

Postby Firstpeke » Mon Feb 08, 2010 21:16

My Pan passed its MOT this morning, after having to have the number plate replaced due to a crack and delamination, apparently......

I had two advisories, rear disc slightly uneven on roller test and exhaust slightly deteriorated........

If he could have seen me last night when the right collector to rear pipe clamp fell off...... so there I was this morning fitting a stainless tube patch and exhaust paste over the join...... deteriorated indeed.....

Apparently there is a clamp down on number plates at MOT stations, mine looked fine, unless you got really close......

Ah well another year and the knowledge that I need a new exhaust for next year and probably a new rear disc too......

Yes, I got an advisory on my car last year for plates delaminating.
Always remember that you're unique, just like everyone else.

Well done Les, now it has got it's MOT you can find the exhaust you need as and when you have the time and cash.
I now have two sets of original exhaust tail pipes, one has the end where it fits the collector snapped off.

Going to get a piece welded on then take the surface rust off and repaint the black bits on them, then put the best ones one the Pan and keep the other ones as spares (just in case), only need the downpipes/collector box.
Why oh why did Honda not use stainless for it all instead of mild cheese for the collector box and stainless steel for the downpipes, or at least making them seperate parts clamped together.

I think the main reason is as always, sale of after market spares..... or as we affectionately call it, MONEY......

I still believe they use the same paper thin mild steel for many parts which are effectively 'designed' to fail.

Probably goes right along with micro thin paint on the swing arm.......
